Three places to look for money.
Most students apply to more than one. Each layer is run by a different office, so applying to one does not apply you to the others.
University of Arkansas awards
Open to UA students, including Walton students
Named study abroad scholarships from the Office of Study Abroad, plus scholarships from individual colleges.
Apply: one application in the Hogs Abroad portal, open from January and reviewed on a rolling basis

The Study Abroad Grant covers about 30–36% of allowable costs and can be combined with other scholarships.

- Every student: start with the CIMBA awards and the Hogs Abroad scholarship application.
- Honors College student: add the Study Abroad Grant. You can submit as early as the fall semester, and it is reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Receiving financial aid at Arkansas: the CIMBA need-based award is built for you.
- Have a sibling who attended CIMBA: ask about the Legacy Award within 30 days of acceptance.

These are the summer amounts. Semester awards are larger and are listed on CIMBA’s site. You apply to CIMBA directly, separate from any University of Arkansas form.

UA study abroad scholarships.
The Office of Study Abroad administers a set of named awards. Undergraduates complete one application in the Hogs Abroad portal after starting a program application.

The John and Trudy Sher International Service Learning Award is for service-learning courses only.
College-specific scholarships
Bumpers College, Education and Health Professions, Fulbright College, Engineering, the Sam M. Walton College of Business, and the Honors College each offer their own study abroad scholarships. Ask your college’s scholarship or advising office what is open to your student.

Honors College funding.
Honors students have their own study abroad funding on top of the layers above.
Study Abroad Grant
- Covers roughly 30–36% of allowable costs, with extra funding for students with financial need.
- Works for programs from two weeks to a year, and students may receive it more than once.
- Can be combined with other scholarships, academic aid, Pell Grants, and existing financial aid.
- You can submit as early as the fall semester, and awards are made on a rolling basis, so apply early. Apply through the Honors Student Hub.
Libby Finch Study Abroad Award. A second Honors award for study in the UK and Europe. Recipients blog monthly during their time abroad.
